So as promised I made DIY Homemade Reese Peanut Butter Cups. Now that I'm done my finals and I have to relax.
Here's the recipe I used:
DIY Homemade Reese Peanut Butter Cup
Ingredients:
12 Paper Muffin Cups (or make your own DIY muffin cups with aluminum foil) Heres the website I used to make my own DIY muffin cups with aluminum foil --> How to make own Cupcake Liners
1 cup of Kraft Peanut Butter (Smooth)
1 cup of President's Choice The Decadent Milk Chocolate Chips ( 1/2 cup for each layer of chocolate)
1/2 cup of Redpath Icing Sugar
1/2 Tsp of Great Value Table Salt
Method:
- Cut the top half off the muffin cups so that they are shallower.
- Pour the first 1/2 cup of the chocolate chips into a microwave-safe bowl and melt them in the microwave: Melt in 30 second intervals for a total amount of 1 minute and 15 seconds. Then stir gently but times may vary depending on your microwave. My microwave is 1200 Watts.
- Using a teaspoon, spoon a portion of chocolate into the middle of a muffin cup.Draw the chocolate up the edges of the cups with the back of the spoon. Coat the entire inside of the muffin cup with chocolate and place it into a muffin tin or baking sheet. Repeat with the remaining muffin cups and then put the whole muffin tin or baking sheet in the fridge so the chocolate hardens. It took approximately 10-15 minutes for mine to harden.
- Combine the smooth peanut butter, powdered sugar and salt in a medium microwave-safe bowl.
- When the chocolate in the muffin cups has hardened, pop the sweetened peanut butter mixture into the microwave in 30 second intervals for a total amount of 1 minute. This will soften up the peanut butter mixture so that it easily flows into the cups.
- Spoon about a teaspoon of the peanut butter mixture into each of the chocolate coated cups. leave room at the top for additional layer of chocolate, which will be added later. Put the cups back in the fridge for about 10 minutes.
- When the peanut butter filling has hardened, re-melt the remaining 1/2 cup of the chocolate chips and repeat Step 2 for the melting time. Use a teaspoon to spread a layer of chocolate over the to of each candy.Chill the candy once again to set up the chooclate.
- Finally, remember to take the paper/alumumium foil off the outside of the peanut butter cups before eating them. AND ENJOY!
